Stockings…just in time!

Stockings

I admit it.  These aren’t quite as nice as the ones my mom made when I was a kid, but I made these without a pattern (turns out the “pattern” mom mailed me last year included all the patterns in McCalls kit EXCEPT the stocking, so I had to use my childhood stocking as a rough pattern).  I also had a small fight with my sewing machine.  I’m pretty sure it was user error, considering I haven’t used a sewing machine in about six years, either way it was really frustrating…but  I figured it out!  The first stocking took me an hour and a half to make with my sewing machine battle.  The second stocking, took ten minutes (thank goodness, as I started stocking #2 at around 11pm!)

All that being said, I’m really happy with how they turned out!  Once again, I love the material, it really goes with the Christmas decor I’ve got goin’ on in our living room.   And even though they aren’t perfect, I love that I made them!  On that note, I am wiped out, so I’m headed to bed.  Happy Christmas Eve!

Looks very nice. Kinda off-center though. Must have been cause it was so late when you put them up ;)

First of all, VERY impressed you made them without the pattern. I remember there being a very tricky part that seemed counter-intuitive to a non-sewer like me.

Second, mine first one is not nearly as good as the later ones! You learn with each one and each mistake!

Finally… I think they look GREAT! And I don’t think Santa cares what they look like. Just as long as they’re roomy enough to hold all the goodies!

p.s. Your father doesn’t understand the asymetrical balancing of how the stockings are hung. And btw…where is Paul’s?
