Befriending Chaos

I am usually pretty darn neat, clean, and organized. I try to stay pretty on top of chores and pick up the house every night before bed. But I have a confession to make. My house is TRASHED right now! Okay, maybe trashed is a bit extreme. But it’s much messier than I can usually stand. And do you know what? I’m kind of okay with it.

You see it all started a few days ago when this room:

Became this room:

This is the nursery in progress (which you’ll hear all about later). But that meant that we sold the bed that was in here, and moved all the other furniture into our bedroom (because a lot of it is being repurposed back in the nursery). Because we’ve been spending our evenings working on nursery projects, all the laundry we did over the weekend is now sitting unfolded on the downstairs guest bedroom (GASP!) and I’ve accumulated another five loads of laundry in our bedroom since then. I have pieces of various projects strung out all over the house. We moved all the baby gear that we’ve accumulated thus far into the Man Cave and because we’re painting projects for the nursery in the garage, we can’t park in there. So really…nearly every room is out of sorts.

And while I am a BIT annoyed by all the stuff everywhere, I’m trying to view it as progress rather than just chaos. Okay, maybe the fact that I’m taking the time to write a whole post about this means I’m not really okay with it… Either way though, I’m not staying up until 2AM folding clothes or finishing projects so I can move everything back where it belongs, I’m just writing about it. So that makes me slightly less neurotic…right?
