In the course of DIY home projects, sometimes you learn things. Like this weekend, the Hubby and I learned that our wall is NOT straight.
At first I thought maybe the board was warped. But then we measured the window ledge and found that one side of our window ledge is in fact about a 1/4 inch wider than the other side. Now I’m sure that a professional would have done something to resolve this and not leave a huge gap in their board and batten wall treatment, but this girl knows that there will be curtains hanging in front of this section of the wall. So she and her Hubby chose to leave this big ol’ gap (just don’t tell anyone!). I figure the boys can use it as a mail slot for a pretend post office or something when they’re older. REALLY I’m spurring creativity, and not just being lazy. Right?

Wow, those people that did that work were morons. How could leave a wall that crooked?
At the very least, I think I’d shim it in a place or two.
Yeah I think we’re going to do that…crazy though, eh?
i’m loving that you still think like a kid! (i.e., the mail slot)… and that made *me* remember playing town when i was a kid. we had all these louvered/slatted closet doors throughout the house. classic brady bunch ’70s style. and as kids, we LOVED it because everyone in “town” had a mail box!
i imagine mom and the housekeeper hated dusting those, though!
