I know I already did one post on the nursery, but I thought I’d do another now that it’s looking a little more complete. I’ve also done a cost breakdown of what we spent–I’ll give you a hint, the whole room is one third of the cost of ONE of Mariah Carey’s cribs!
Here’s the view right when you walk in the door. I just love all that board and batten peeking out from behind all the furniture. I also think the board and batten makes the awkward high window not look quite so weird.
And I just LOVE the view out the boys’ window. It’s the best in the house!
The big addition was the starfish I added last week above the cribs.
Here’s the close-up. I just LOVE them!
And over on this side of the room, the changing table is all set up now! All I need now is a squirmy baby or two to change over there.
I can’t get over how teeny tiny the newborn diapers are! It’s hard to believe babies start out so small!
And here’s the bookcase the hubby painstakingly painted with all the little details. That fish on top was one of the few decor items my hubby had in his bachelor pad when I moved in five years ago. But it was originally a bright tropical fish. I loved the idea of incorporating him into the nursery, but he definitely needed a paint job. Now he looks quite dashing, if I do say so myself.
This is a close-up of one of the shelves. I got those metal buckets a few months ago at Target in the dollar aisle for $2.50 each and just added a custom chalk-label I ordered off Etsy.
And last but not least, the ceiling fan my Hubby installed to replace this monstrosity:

Not bad at all considering that includes all the furniture! I know there are some cribs that go for more than that (and supposedly Mariah Carey’s twins’ cribs are $2,200 EACH!).
We saved lots of money by repurposing furniture and accessories we already had, doing all the labor ourselves, and not buying a lot of baby-specific stuff. The benefit of that, is that once the boys outgrow the nursery, which I’m sure will happen before I know it, I’ll be able to incorporate all the beachy stuff in with my summer decor. And at that point, the desk can go back to being a desk, the rocking chair can go back to live with our halloween decor, and so forth.
What do you think?

I love it! You are amazing!!!!
Absolutely genius. As always. I love it!
