I’ve got an itch.

So since last fall, when we painted our master bedroom,  I haven’t taken on any major decorating projects.  A few small things here and there, yes. But nothing major.  Well, I’ve been itching to start a project, and the Man Cave has been calling me.  Here’s what it looks like right now.

I’ve challenged myself to a $100 room makeover (and no, that does not include the desk I purchased last week). My hubby has all these grand ideas of a new couch, a big new desks, changing out the cabinets, etc. But those things are all a bit down the road. Right now, we don’t spend much time in that room, because, frankly, it’s a little depressing.  It has a tv, a desk, and a ton of storage. But it also has yellow walls. And you can’t see the tv from the desk. And it’s just not very cohesive. So I’m going to change all that. For $100 (or somewhere around there), I’m going to make it a great room. A room we can live with and at least use until the day we can afford to really make it over. So stay tuned!

P.S. I think I may have given restarted my Craigslist addiction after all that Craigslist talk last week!  Yikes!

Craigslist Mania!

I’m so excited, I have several craigslist negotiations percolating right now. I’m crossing my fingers that they all work out!  I had almost forgotten how much I love buying stuff through that site.  I’ve furnished a large portion of the rooms in our house with purchases I’ve made through craigslist.  Here are my major scores:

Our dining room buffet/hutch ($300). This was a SCORE because it had never been used and it PERFECTLY matched 0ur existing dining room table!

The chairs in our reading nook ($150 for both).

Our master bed frame ($200).

The bed frame in our guest room ($10).

The bedroom set (bed frame/ armoire/ dresser with mirror) in our other guest room ($300).

Our current desk ($80).

Paul the Dog (FREE).

My  job.

Just to put that all in perspective, we spent just a little over $1000 on ALL of those purchases…to buy all of those things brand new could have easily been ten times that.  For me, saving money on furnishing the house makes spending money on something we really want (like our new IPAD!) a little more feasible.
