Numeros!

I’ve had such a productive day! After work I got my hair cut (for the first time in SEVEN months!!!), ran a bunch of errands, and then we had our friends Jana and Wade over for dinner!  I made my new go-to fast dinner: pre-marinated Carne Asada from Trader Joes (LOVE it!), baked asparagus, and roasted rosemary potatoes…with flourless chocolate cake for dessert. Yum. It was such a nice evening!

I forgot to take pics of the dinner to share with you, so instead, I’ll show you one of the projects I worked on for our reunion dinners last weekend. We needed a way to mark the tables so the various reunion classes knew where to sit.  We found these paper mache numbers online for a few dollars each:

and I found these fence post toppers at a hardware store for a little over a dollar a piece:

I screwed the numbers to the post toppers with a wood screw and then spray painted them alternating white and blue.  These were the finished project:

and

and THIS is what they looked like on the tables:

I just LOVE how they turned out (the white numbers went on tables with blue tablecloths). I’m guessing not a lot of you have a need for class numbers on tables, but these would also work quite well for table numbers at any wedding or other big event!

Amazing Invite!

First of all, I have to show you what I was doing tonight:

Yeah!!!!  I found out today that on Friday, we’re hosting a party for 50 or so, and we’re apparently also in charge of food…SOOOO…I’m trying to make sure the Man Cave is all put together before then! Yikes. But, the painting is all done.  I think we’re only going to need one coat (fingers crossed). Either way, it looks GREAT!

Anyway, today I wanted to share with you my friend Jenn’s wedding invitation. She and her fiance are both pretty amazing with Adobe Illustrator and such, so they designed and put together their own invites! Talk about ambitious! And they look AMAZING!

Here are the pics. First of all…they were wrapped in brown craft paper. And when you unwrapped the craft paper, here is what you saw:

And when you opened the box…you saw this:

You can’t really see it above, but that little green tag had an embossed “J K” (the couples initials). And check out the edge of the invite there…here’s a close-up:

So cute! The actual invite part looked like this:

Simply stunning. And the other invite stuff was in a little pocket. I love how the design on each card looks like one design when they’re layered.

And one of my favorite parts was the RSVP card…you have to read it:

Great, right? And another highlight was the map they created. Such a nice touch:

I just love it all! I think they really did a great job of setting the tone for their wedding!

What will you do for YOUR next party invite?!?

A Sweet Wedding

Over at the Hostess with the Mostess blog today, they featured this FABULOUS sweet-themed wedding (Here’s Part 1 and Part 2). I just LOVE it! The bright colors, the fun textures, the little monkeys…what’s not to love?!?  Scroll down to see pictures of a few of my favorite features (that cake with the rock candy…LOVE IT!), and be sure to check out the links above for more pictures of the wedding!
